Why we recommend coconut coir for starting seeds:
Regular potting soil is rather unsuitable for starting seeds, as it is usually not sterile and, above all, contains significant amounts of fertilizer. Seed starting mix or coconut fiber is (almost) free of fertilizers and sterile, and is therefore ideal for starting seeds.
