Date palms are among the evergreen pinnate palms. The Canary Island date palm initially has no trunk, but develops one over the years. In its natural habitat, the trunk can reach a height of up to 15 meters. However, in a container, it remains significantly smaller, reaching up to two meters. Therefore, the date palm is well-suited as a container plant indoors or in a conservatory. For millennia, the date palm has been considered a symbol of justice and represents the resurrection, as Jesus was greeted with palm branches upon entering Jerusalem. The fronds of the Canary Island date palm are long and pointed, broader, and not as prickly as those of the common date palm. Its deep roots enable it to thrive even in oases. Unfortunately, the fruits of this Phoenix palm are not edible.
