The exotic climbing lily is a trailing, perennial plant that, with the help of a trellis, can reach a height of up to two meters and is well-suited to container planting. Its flower spikes also last a long time as cut flowers. The fiery red flowers of Gloriosa rothschildiana, which appear from June onwards, are adorned with a light yellow edge and a vibrant yellow throat. With their six ruffled and widely outward-curving petals, they resemble a crown or a butterfly. The delicate shoots become very long during the summer and then require a support structure to which they can cling with their leaf tips.

Natural habitat: Gloriosa rothschildiana is native to Africa and widespread in the tropics and subtropics.
