A touch of chocolate and wine!

With its long-stalked, mostly five-lobed leaves, the chocolate vine has a very delicate appearance and is a pretty, frost-hardy climbing plant that can even retain its green foliage in mild winter regions. It climbs several meters per year and is therefore ideal for covering facades. From April onwards, it produces clusters of flowers, the female flowers being larger and brownish-purple, while the male flowers are smaller and pink. The spicy scent of these blossoms is somewhat reminiscent of cocoa or chocolate. From September, the Akebia develops rather unusual, small cucumber-like, blue, frosted fruits that are sweet and edible.

Natural habitat: The chocolate vine originates from East Asia and grows wild in mountainous forests there.
