Sweet, nutty flavor - High yield and long shelf life

The flat, purple-tinged roots of the Milan Purple Top variety are easy to grow and can become quite large without becoming woody. The very tasty, sweet, and mild roots are eaten fresh or cooked like potatoes. The greens are also nutritious and delicious. Kohlrabi has a slightly sweet, nutty flavor. The bulbs owe this delicate taste to the sulfur and mustard oils they contain.

Natural habitat:  Kohlrabi is believed to have originated in the Mediterranean region. Today, Germany is one of the main growing areas in Europe.

In the kitchen:  Kohlrabi is popular when served with a creamy sauce, herbs such as parsley or chervil, and potatoes. It also tastes great in casseroles or low-carb lasagnas. Kohlrabi is particularly flavorful when eaten raw. Kohlrabi salad with radishes or carrots and raw vegetables with a yogurt dip is a true vitamin powerhouse. For a main course, you can bread kohlrabi and fry it as kohlrabi schnitzel. Use the tender heart leaves to enhance soups and salads, or prepare them with a splash of lemon juice, similar to spinach. Large kohlrabi leaves can also be used for roulades.
