The classic Italian cylinder - zucchini

The Italian Nero di Milano variety produces mid-season, dark green, cylindrical zucchini, 18 to 20 centimeters long, of excellent quality. Its upright, open growth habit makes harvesting easy. The fruits are low in calories and rich in vitamins. They are also very easy to digest.

Origin:  Zucchini are native to Europe and were developed from the garden pumpkin through cultivation. The original varieties emerged in Italy at the end of the 17th century.

Culinary Use:  Regular harvesting encourages the continuous appearance of new blossoms, which then develop into fruits. Do not leave the fruits on the plant, as this reduces the yield. To harvest, simply cut the zucchini off with a knife. Zucchini can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 14 days. They are not suitable for freezing, as they lose their texture and become soft and watery. Zucchini are delicious raw in salads, steamed as sticks or slices, or briefly sautéed in a pan. They make a good soup and are popular stuffed with minced meat, couscous, mushrooms, or rice. Incidentally, the large zucchini blossoms are a particular delicacy.
