The red maple, especially when standing alone, is a magnificent display of color and develops a beautiful oval crown. Fast-growing, at up to 60 centimeters per year, it reaches a height of up to 12 meters and brings a touch of Indian Summer to your garden with its early, fiery red autumn foliage. Its small, bronze-colored leaves are generally five-lobed and about 10 centimeters long. Even very young trees flower before the leaves emerge. The red blossoms then appear on slender stems in dense clusters and emit a slightly honey-like fragrance. The red maple is also featured on the Canadian flag. - FLAG IMAGE

Natural Habitat The red maple's native range is primarily in eastern North America, from the Atlantic coast through the Appalachian Mountains to the edge of the prairies.
