A winter-hardy floral dream

The Chinese wisteria (Wisteria sinensis) grows very quickly into a floriferous climbing plant whose wood only dies back slightly in winter. In most locations, its densely flowering, drooping flower clusters appear twice a year – in spring even before the first leaves emerge, and again from July to August, with the flowers unfolding from the base to the tip. With a suitable, sturdy support, you can transform your house wall into a sea of ​​blossoms and also create a pergola or arbor, which, in a sunny location, quickly forms a dense, enclosed effect with a growth rate of up to 6 meters per year. Freestanding shrubs are also possible with regular pruning. Caution: Almost all parts of the wisteria – including the seeds – are considered poisonous if ingested!

Natural Habitat: The Chinese wisteria originates in East Asia, primarily in China. Its distribution now extends to North America and Europe.
