The small, herbaceous chickweed is one of the most common wild herbs in our latitudes. Its name derives from the fact that birds actively fight over it. This annual plant is a typical ground-crawler and usually only reaches a height of 5 to 10 centimeters. Under favorable climatic conditions, chickweed blooms year-round. However, young plants only begin flowering from mid-May onwards. 

Natural habitat: The plant is of European-Asian origin. As a true cosmopolitan, it can be found on almost every continent, primarily in lowland areas.
