Unique, bizarre growth form - Hardy down to -10° Celsius

The unique growth habit of the Himalayan cedar makes it instantly recognizable, even to the untrained eye. This evergreen conifer sends its main branches, with their drooping tips, horizontally from the trunk, growing almost more in width than in height. Its soft, blue-green to gray-blue needles grow in clusters on the short shoots and more sparsely on the long ones. At four to five centimeters long, they are among the longest of all cedar species. After the autumn flowering, the eight-centimeter-long cones of Cedrus deodara stand attractively upright on the branches.

Natural habitat: The region from western Nepal to eastern Afghanistan is the natural habitat of the Himalayan cedar, where it grows at altitudes of 1,000 to 3,000 meters.
