The world's largest pumpkin also produces by far the largest fruit in the entire plant kingdom. It originates from South America, where it is called zapallo. A single orange fruit reaches an average weight of 90 to 140 kg. The current world record is 1,818 lb (825 kg) and was weighed at the Prince Edward County Pumpkinfest in Wellington, Ontario, Canada. Our seeds come from breeder and former world champion Howard Dill from Nova Scotia, Canada.
its wild form, the giant pumpkin is native to Argentina and Uruguay and was already widespread in the 15th century in warm climates inhabited by the Incas. Since the 18th century, its cultivation area has expanded as far as New England in the USA.
