Favorite plant of all vampires! Night-blooming until sunrise

During its flowering period in spring and midsummer, the yellowish-white blossoms, with a diameter of up to 30 centimeters, unfold at dusk. By midnight, the vanilla-scented flowers have usually reached their full size and are already faded by daybreak. Therefore, timing the blooms for the right night is the grower's most important task. The serpentine body of Selenicereus grandiflorus, with a diameter of approximately 2.5 centimeters, requires a support structure, as its shoots grow rapidly and branch profusely. The larger and older a plant becomes, the more flowers it produces in succession.

Natural habitat: The Queen of the Night is native to Mexico, the Caribbean, and the southeastern United States. There, it uses rock faces or tree branches as supports for its long shoots, clinging on with its aerial roots.
