The evergreen Red River Eucalyptus owes its name to its typical habitat in wetlands and near rivers, as well as to its reddish-brown bark and red wood, which is prized in furniture making for its vibrant colors. As is typical for eucalyptus, the bark peels away, revealing white patches that give the trunk a painted appearance. Its green leaves contain the characteristic essential oil, which is released when the leaf is broken, thus keeping pests away from the plant. From March to April, Eucalyptus camaldulensis displays its attractive yellow flowers arranged in umbels, and from summer to autumn, the brown seed capsules that remain on the plant. Incidentally, Australian Aborigines craft the didgeridoo, a wind instrument, from eucalyptus wood. Its

natural habitat is the wetlands of Australia, and it can be found along many waterways. Its natural range extends across almost the entire country.
