Even today, every farmer knows silverweed, as it was long considered a first-aid remedy for all kinds of injuries to domestic animals and people. This small, herbaceous, perennial plant grows to a height of 5 to 15 centimeters and forms a thickened, short rhizome from which the very thin, creeping stems develop. The golden-yellow flowers appear from May to September. Almost forgotten is the tradition of digging up the roots of silverweed on St. John's Day before sunrise. An amulet was then made from them, which the wearer believed would help win the love of others.

Natural habitat: Silverweed's natural habitat is the nutrient-rich soils of the northern hemisphere. It is found primarily in grassy areas and along streams and ponds.
