The soul of Provence - Mediterranean fragrant and medicinal plant
True lavender was already mentioned in ancient Egypt as one of the great medicinal plants and has been used as a fragrant bath essence since antiquity. It grows as a dwarf shrub with striking blue-violet flower spikes, reaching a height of 40 to 90 centimeters. Almost all parts of the plant are permeated with essential oil, exuding an aromatic fragrance and attracting butterflies. Its beneficial properties: Lavender blossoms have mildly calming properties for inner restlessness, nervous exhaustion, and difficulty falling asleep. You can make a light, antispasmodic massage or bath oil yourself by infusing the blossoms in a base oil for several weeks. Small sachets of lavender blossoms are wonderful for making your own scented pillows or for a pleasant fragrance in your wardrobe, where they also protect against moths. Tea: Pour 0.5 liters of 80°C hot water (higher temperatures destroy the active ingredients) over two teaspoons of dried blossoms and let the tea steep for three to four minutes. In the kitchen: Young leaf shoots can be used dried and crumbled or fresh.
Natural habitat: Lavender originally comes from the higher coastal regions of the Mediterranean, such as the Alpes de Haut-Provence in France.
