The red maple is a true spectacle of color and develops a beautiful oval crown. Its early, fiery red autumn foliage brings a touch of Indian summer to your garden and home. Its small, bronze-colored leaves are generally five-lobed. Even very young trees flower before the leaves emerge. The red blossoms then appear on slender stems in dense clusters and emit a slightly honey-like fragrance. The red maple is also featured on the Canadian flag.
Natural habitat: The red maple is native primarily to eastern North America, from the Atlantic coast through the Appalachian Mountains to the edge of the prairies.
