Pretty cold-climate bonsai with small leaves and beautiful flowers
In ancient Greece, the evergreen myrtle was sacred to Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty. Myrtle branches symbolize vitality, fertility, lasting marital bliss, and enduring love. The ancient Greeks and Romans were also familiar with the wedding custom of adorning the virgin bride with a myrtle wreath. This small shrub, with its fragrant, dark green leaves and small, white, and equally fragrant blossoms that appear from May to August, is well-suited for bonsai cultivation. Older plants even produce edible, bluish-black berries after flowering.
Natural habitat: Myrtle originates in the Mediterranean region and the Canary Islands, where it is widespread as a shrub or small tree.
