Cress - SproutsEnjoy the spicy taste of your homegrown cress with its high concentration of minerals, vitamins and fiber on bread, in soups or in salads. Interesting facts: Garden cress originates in Western or Central Asia and has been known as a spice and medicinal plant since antiquity. It contains vitamin C, B vitamins, potassium, calcium, and iron. The seeds typically germinate after just 1-2 days. Because the seeds swell, they should not be sown too close together. The mucilage that forms on the seeds is normal and does not indicate a defect. Cress sprouts have a spicy and slightly peppery flavor, reminiscent of mustard and radish. Cress tastes particularly good in cream cheese or quark, and it adds a savory note to salads and egg dishes. It's best not to mix cress with other herbs, as its strong flavor can overpower their aromas. The best way to grow sprouts is in the SAFLAX sprouting jar, which is available separately or as a starter set with three organic sprout varieties. |
