Depending on the sowing time, the approximately 2.5-centimeter-wide, yellow-white flowers of the fried egg flower appear from June onwards. Its popular name derives from its characteristic white edge with its bright yellow center. Because the flowers are fragrant and rich in nectar, they are very popular with insects. Limnanthes is also very attractive to hoverflies, thus drawing these efficient aphid predators into the garden. The plant is suitable for planting in garden beds and, due to its low height of approximately 15 centimeters, also for containers and rock gardens.
Natural habitat: The natural habitat of Limnanthes douglasii is the United States, where it is particularly widespread in the states of Oregon and California.
