Beautiful blossoms - delicious fruit!

This evergreen, perennial climbing plant can grow several meters long and is therefore ideally suited for training on a trellis or espalier. Its magnificent, five- to eight-centimeter-wide flowers stand out against its glossy, light green, three-lobed leaves. Above the ten white petals and sepals is the purple corona at the base and the yellow-green stamens. If the purple granadilla is kept in a warm, bright location year-round, it will also develop its egg-sized, brownish-purple fruits, from which juice can be extracted.

Natural Habitat: Passiflora edulis is native to Brazil, northern Argentina, and Paraguay. However, its attractive fruits have now led to cultivation in all tropical and subtropical regions.
