This robust, cushion-forming plant creates dense, evergreen carpets of grey-green leaves and shoots up in spring with bright yellow, raceme-like flower clusters. Reaching a height of 20 to 30 cm, it is perfect for sunny slopes, dry stone walls, or rock gardens. It is a real eye-catcher when it cascades over rocks or wall tops. Traditionally, rock alyssum is planted in rock gardens, where it scores points not only visually but also ecologically. Its flowers attract bees and butterflies early in the year when other food sources are still scarce. The plant emits a delicate honey fragrance that is particularly noticeable on warm days.

Natural habitat: Originally native to the mountainous regions of southern and central Europe, rock alyssum grows on sunny, rocky slopes and in dry, calcareous soils. Today it is widespread in many gardens as a rock garden plant and also thrives in urban environments such as roof gardens or gravel beds.
