Feathery flower clusters dance in the wind - blossoms last until winter
The clump-forming silver spike grass is one of the longest-blooming grasses and a valuable summer bloomer that retains its ornamental value well into winter. The grass grows upright and compact, and even after prolonged rain, its leaves and panicles do not lie flat on the ground. The feathery flower clusters arch gracefully, creating a beautiful display in the breeze. From June until autumn, new flushes of flowers appear continuously. The initially silvery flower clusters contrast attractively with the older, darker, camel-colored blooms. Silver spike grass is well-suited to dry areas and steppe plantings, where it can be planted individually or in groups. It also makes a striking specimen plant in containers.
